Our continual efforts in fostering sustainable development in the communities that we serve have gained us prominent recognition from leading local and international sustainability benchmarks, ratings, and certification schemes, including:
GRESB
In 2025, we achieved a 5-star performance rating for standing investments under GRESB. Launched in 2010, GRESB assesses and benchmarks performance of real assets in environmental, social and governance areas and provides standardized and validated data to capital markets.
MSCI ESG rating
Since 2023, Hang Lung Properties’ MSCI ESG rating has been AA. Their assessment helps investors identify environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities within their portfolio.
CDP rating
We received an “A” rating in CDP’s Climate Change, Water Security, and Supplier Engagement Assessment. CDP is a global non-profit organization that helps companies, capital markets, cities, states and regions to disclose their environmental impacts.
Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series
We have the highest rating, AAA, in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series assessment. We are included as a constituent of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index, the Hang Seng ESG 50 Index and the HSI ESG Index. These indices are an important reference tool for the investment community and the general public as a benchmark for socially responsible investments and for tracking the stock price performance of constituent companies.
S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA)
Hang Lung achieved a score of 83 out of 100 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). Reflecting this achievement, we were recognized in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, ranking among the top 10% of companies globally and one of only 848 companies selected from more than 9,200 assessed worldwide. We also achieved a top 5% ranking in the Yearbook's China Edition, highlighting our strong sustainability performance across the Chinese Mainland.
Corporate Knights Asia-Pacific 50 Most Sustainable Corporations
Hang Lung Group was included in Corporate Knights' inaugural Asia-Pacific 50 Most Sustainable Corporations list, ranking 44th among over 4,200 companies assessed globally. We are one of only two real estate companies and one of five Hong Kong companies to earn a place on the list, reflecting Corporate Knights’ assessment of our regional leadership in sustainable business.
Caring Company Scheme
We have been named a “Caring Company” by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service since 2010, an ongoing affirmation of our commitment to fostering a caring culture and promoting social sustainable development. Awarded companies have demonstrated positive societal impact.
Sustainable Building Performance
As a real estate developer and owner-operator, we regard the buildings and spaces we develop, own and manage as our principal products. Through our sustainable products approach, we follow industry norms and standards in classifying qualified green-certified buildings as sustainable products. We have obtained multiple third party green building certifications including LEED, BEAM Plus, China Green Building Design Label, EDGE and BREEAM. The green building certifications we obtain are aligned with established external taxonomies and ESG ratings methodologies (e.g., GRESB, and Hong Kong and China green finance taxonomies). Every year, we report our sustainable revenue and sustainable investment to Corporate Knights through their annual quantitative sustainability assessment that ranks the world's most sustainable publicly traded corporations. Under their methodology, which includes a Sustainable Economy Taxonomy (including a sustainable building definition), we report how much of our revenue and investment are from buildings with applicable green building certifications as an important factor in their assessment of our sustainable revenue and sustainable capital expenditures.
This commitment to sustainable products as captured through certifications is further supported by investments in building performance improvements, technology and innovation, and capability building for relevant employees involved in the design, development and operation of our buildings. We disclose our annual performance and progress in expanding and improving our sustainable building portfolio in our annual Sustainability Report. Between now and 2030, as our portfolio evolves, we aim to maintain green building certification coverage of no less than 80% of our total gross floor area. We also maintain a commitment that 100% of new developments in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland achieve LEED Gold or higher, or an equivalent certification.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
In the international realm, we benchmark our environmental performance with a high standard, namely the gold level or above of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Core and Shell certification issued by the U.S. Green Building Council. By the end of 2025, all of our properties in the Chinese Mainland had obtained LEED gold or higher certifications or pre-certifications for relevant buildings.
BEAM Plus
Hang Lung’s headquarters, the Standard Chartered Bank Building, also a prestigious Grade A office property in Central, has achieved the Platinum Rating of Final Assessment under the BEAM Plus V2.0 for Existing Building of the Hong Kong Green Building Council. It was the first commercial building in Hong Kong to have achieved this recognition. The Peak Galleria has also achieved the Platinum Rating of Final Assessment under the BEAM Plus V2.0 for Existing Building.
We also benchmark the environmental performance of our buildings in Hong Kong with particular aspects of the BEAM Plus Existing Buildings V2.0 Selective Scheme. Grand Plaza and its Office Tower Two attained an Excellent Grade in the Energy Use aspect of the BEAM Plus Existing Buildings V2.0 Selective Scheme.
Healthy Building Certifications
We also aim to improve the wellbeing of our building occupants. We have applied for WELL certification for our new buildings and existing buildings undergoing major enhancement works since 2019.
Since 2025, we have achieved the WELL Health-Safety Rating (WELL HSR) from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for all our core properties in Hong Kong and all shopping malls and office towers in our Mainland portfolio. The HSR evaluation process focuses on the operational management areas including cleaning and sanitization procedures, air and water quality management. We have also received the People First Award – Real Estate under the 2025 IWBI Organizational Awards, which celebrates organizations that have positively impacted people through their commitments to health and wellbeing.
