(Hong Kong, September 16, 2013) Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) is proud to announce today the grand opening of Center 66 in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.
Center 66 is the Company’s latest world-class commercial complex project that is joining its other landmark properties in the Yangtze River Delta, Plaza 66 and Grand Gateway 66 in Shanghai, to tap into the enormous potential of mainland China’s most dynamic economic region.
Coming into operation today is the high-end shopping mall at Phase 1 of Center 66, situated ideally at the very heart of Wuxi’s Chong’an central business district on Renmin Zhong Lu. Phase 1 of Center 66 spans a gross floor area of 262,720 square meters (excluding car park areas). In addition to the shopping mall, Phase 1 comprises two Grade A office towers expected to be due for completion in phases from 2014, and offers up to 1,300 car park spaces for shoppers’ convenience. Center 66 is destined to become the flagship of the Company’s operations in Wuxi as well as a new iconic landmark for the city.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman, and Mr Philip N.L. Chen, Managing Director, of Hang Lung Properties Limited, and attended by Mr Wang Quan, Acting Mayor of Wuxi Municipal Government; Mr Zhang Yunchang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of Wuxi Municipality; Mr Zhu Aixun, Vice Mayor of Wuxi Municipal Government; Mr Jiang Weijian, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Wuxi Municipality; Mr Wu Fengfeng, Secretary General of Wuxi Municipal Government; Mr Liu Yamin, Secretary of the CPC Chong’an District Committee of Wuxi; Mr Li Qiufeng, Governor of Chong’an District of Wuxi Municipal Government; as well as officials from various governmental bodies.
Mr Chan said, “The launch of Center 66 again underscores our commitment to upholding the highest standards of excellence in all that we do, from location choice, architectural design to project operation and management. We do it right, and will continue to live up to that pledge. With 10 major property developments commanding prime locations in eight major cities across mainland China, there is no doubt that Hang Lung is evolving into the most admired and leading national commercial property developer in the market.”
Offering 118,000 square meters and a handpicked selection of global brands, food and beverage outlets as well as lifestyle offerings, the shopping mall at Center 66 brings a brand new shopping experience for discerning customers seeking quality lifestyle. The mall houses about 250 tenants, and is the top choice for many world-leading luxury and fashion labels seeking to have their first presence in Wuxi. They include Chaumet, Kate Spade, Prada, Roger Vivier, Valentino and more. The mall will also be hosting an extensive array of other internationally renowned brands, including Cerruti 1881, Emporio Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Moncler, RIMOWA, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod’s, Uniqlo and Victoria’s Secret, to name just a few.
Phase 2 of Center 66, just south of Renmin Zhong Lu where Phase 1 is located, will consist of commercial and office facilities as well as a hotel and serviced apartments. Upon completion, it will bring the total gross floor area of Center 66 to an impressive 375,720 square meters (excluding car park areas), making it the largest retail and commercial landmark in the central business district of Wuxi.
Center 66 is built around the concepts of flow, circulation and connection, and embodies the essence of Chinese calligraphy. The fluid curved lines of the word for “people” (Chinese form: 人) flow through the sites of both Phase 1 and Phase 2, uniting all the buildings with the common language of movement while enhancing the dynamism of the created space. New Metro Lines 1 and 2, running along Zhongshan Lu and Renmin Zhong Lu, will intersect directly beneath the development and provide a convenient passageway to both Phases 1 and 2, attracting further traffic flow to the complex.
Attesting to the quality of the development and the many environmental initiatives that have been incorporated in its design, the shopping mall and Phase 1 office facilities have already obtained their “Precertification under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Core and Shell Development – Gold Level” from the U.S. Green Building Council.
