(Hong Kong, February 25, 2014) Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) recognized the outstanding efforts of its staff volunteers in serving the community at an annual ceremony held last Friday (February 21).
Hang Lung As One Volunteer Teams have been set up in Hong Kong and Mainland cities since July 2012, and there are now a total of more than 800 volunteers. In 2013, Hang Lung As One Volunteer Teams organized about 70 activities, contributing nearly 6,500 service hours to the community. The team in Hong Kong devoted over 3,000 service hours and organized a number of specially-planned activities. These included accompanying elderly people to the Bing Tau Fa Yuen (Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens) and also to a Hong Kong-style café where they enjoyed themselves reminiscing about the past. Hang Lung Green LEEDers program was also held for the second consecutive year to promote the message of environmental protection to the children and youth.
At the ceremony, Mr. Hau Cheong Ho, Executive Director of Hang Lung Properties Limited, gave certificates to outstanding volunteers and said, “The Company has been encouraging and supporting its staff to help people in need in the community whenever they have time. As a result of their efforts, our volunteers have been highly appreciated by a number of non-governmental organizations. I am deeply impressed by their service, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank colleagues for their unwavering contributions to society.”
To show the Company’s support for social enterprise, the ceremony was held at a restaurant at the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), which offers work opportunities to retired people. In keeping with our cherished pledge of “We Do It Right”, Hang Lung As One Volunteer Teams will continue to serve the community in the year ahead in three areas: environmental protection, youth development and service to the elderly.
