Hang Lung Wins RE100 “Best Newcomer” Award for Renewable Energy Leadership

News | Dec 16, 2025

Hang Lung is proud to share that we have won the “Best Newcomer” award from RE100 as part of their 2025 RE100 Leadership Awards. RE100, a global initiative led by Climate Group, brings together more than 440 leading global businesses committed to using 100% renewable electricity in their operations. We were selected by an international panel for our “ambition and pioneering work in accelerating the global transition to 100% renewable electricity.”

Hang Lung is a leader in the procurement of renewable electricity in the Chinese Mainland. We were the first commercial real estate company to procure renewable electricity through power purchase agreements (PPAs) in three markets: Yunnan in 2021, Shandong in 2023, and Liaoning in 2025. In addition, in 2024 we were among the first commercial real estate companies to procure renewable electricity in Shanghai and Jiangsu. As of now, eight out of ten of Hang Lung’s operating properties in the  Mainland are now powered by renewable electricity.

All our PPAs to date follow a ‘whole building’ approach, meaning that we procure renewable electricity to cover both our own electricity consumption and that of our tenants. This integrated approach ensures that we are also helping our tenants to achieve their own renewable energy commitments. Under RE100, Hang Lung has committed to sourcing 70% of our operational electricity from renewable sources by 2030, and 100% renewable electricity across all our operations by 2050.
