Amidst the relentless pace of city life, we are forever in pursuit of profoundly rewarding experiences. In celebration of Hang Lung’s 66th anniversary, we present “LIVE beyond”. Transcending the everyday to embark on extraordinary journeys, we draw inspiration from local culture, inviting you to discover destinations where scenic beauty and human warmth intertwine — redefining the art of travel.

Yunnan is unveiled as the first featured destination in this exclusive journey, where the breathtaking Yuanyang Rice Terraces meet the refined urban elegance of Spring City 66 in Kunming.

A Tapestry of Ancient Heritage

Just beyond the city unfolds a cinematic monument shaped by nature and time. Carved into the sweeping contours of the Ailao Mountains, the Yuanyang Rice Terraces cascade toward the horizon in luminous tiers — an enduring dialogue between earth and sky.

At daybreak, the Duoyishu viewing platform reveals a living masterpiece. As first light rises above distant peaks, thousands of water-filled paddies awaken in quiet succession. Mist drifts through the valleys while sunlight transforms the terraces into a radiant mosaic of gold, silver, and rose. With each passing season, the landscape renews itself — mirror-like reflections in winter, vibrant emerald growth in spring, lush abundance in summer, and burnished harvest tones in autumn.

Stand quietly at the edge of the terraces, and the vastness feels suspended in time.

For more than 1,300 years, the Hani people have stewarded this extraordinary ecosystem. Their ancient forest–village–terrace–river system reflects a philosophy of balance practiced long before it was ever named. Forests crown the mountaintops, channeling spring water through intricate irrigation networks that nourish the terraces below.

Villages rest along the slopes, while rivers gather at the base — forming a seamless cycle between humanity and nature.

History lingers here — echoing in ancestral songs at dusk and glowing from hearth fires inside the iconic Hani “mushroom houses.” Built of earth and timber with gently curved thatched roofs, these dwellings rise organically from the land, embodying resilience and continuity.

This connection to place finds its fullest expression at the table. Traditional Hani home cooking reveals the earth’s purest flavors: terrace carp roasted with fermented beans, wild mountain herbs rich with fragrance, and the crimson Hani red rice — nurtured by mineral waters and harvested by hand. Each dish carries the story of its land.

To stand among the terraces is not merely to see scenery, but to encounter a living heritage — where culture, cultivation, and time remain inseparable. In that stillness, the landscape is not simply observed; it is felt.

An Urban Sanctuary

From the quiet vastness of the terraces, the journey gently returns to the city at Grand Hyatt Kunming. Here, the spirit of the landscape is thoughtfully reinterpreted through contemporary design. Inside, an arched dome and soft lighting evoke the terraces' flowing contours, while a miniature “Mirror of the Sky” on the 36th floor echoes their glass-like reflections. Seamlessly connected to Spring City 66, this urban sanctuary brings together world-class dining, luxury brands, and curated experiences — where every detail reflects a life lived with distinction.
